Poor King

This is our dog all happy a few weeks ago. He is 126 pounds and thinks he is a lap dog.
He is deaf because he is albino. They come deaf, blind or both. Doug got him from a Great Dane rescue. He got King in WI but King came from Missouri. He had been abused and even had to get his tail cut of because it was broken. He is a very loving and happy dog. Loves children. Yesterday was one of my days off and I was running around getting the oil changed and a ton of other errands. When I got home three hours later I was doing my weekly house cleaning along with my everyday things. I was folding my last load of laundry and talking to Doug on the phone when I looked down at our dog and noticed this huge lump on his leg right above his right paw. I said OMG and Doug was like what and I told him about it. He treats King better than any human was ever treated. He said to me are you sure it's not part of his paw. OK I was not born yesterday. So he told me to take him to the vet. They took us in right away and 10 minutes later the poor thing was having surgery. It was filled with liquid and hard way down in the middle. I felt guilty for not seeing it sooner. He is always with us and playing around with us so I can not believe we missed. While in surgery they found a real small growth which we seen before and thought was just part of him, so they took it off too. We will find out Tuesday if it is cancer or not. It was to big in a part where there is no meat so they could not get all of it out because then they would not have been able to close the wound. Since home we are paranoid. We found two very very very small ones we will have them look at when he goes in Thursday to get his stitches out. In all he has 17 stitches. I am sending you a picture with his cone on his head so that he does not lick or bite it. King is 7 years old.

This is poor King after surgery and home trying to be comfortable while drugged to the max so he would not feel any pain. We both had to lift him out of the car. When I went into the kitchen last night he would stagger out to see where I was. He whined if we were both not in the room at the same time. Today he is a little happy but still not himself. I wouldn't be either with that thing on my head. But it is for his own good.

He is such a beautiful boy, Faith! I am happy he has good parents now. He does not look like a happy camper with that darn cone on. Don't tell him but he does look really funny. I had to have one of those on so I wouldn't bite my classmates when I was in school. It was not fun. LOL! Hope he is feeling better soon and that the lump is harmless and taken care off. Poor King is right! Spencer really likes the pictures of King. He keeps coming up to my computer and saying "peese" (please) so he can see them again. HUGS for your poor boy.
